Twelve municipalities in the province host a total of 24 jazz concerts between November 5 and 28. Tickets cost between 3 and 5 euros and in Cantillana admission is free with an invitation. The line-up consists of eight acts ranging from flamenco jazz to soul and from bolero to the music of Thelonious Monk, as detailed by the Diputación de Sevilla, which organises the event through its Área de Cultura y Ciudadanía.
Each act visits three municipalities on the same weekend, from Thursday to Saturday. Concerts start between 20:00 and 21:00 depending on the town. Tickets are bought at the theatres, cultural centres and town halls of each town and, in most cases, also online.
Zenet opens in Osuna and Martha High closes in La Rinconada
The festival opens on Thursday, November 5 in Osuna with Zenet, who presents «Las manos y la voz», an acoustic work spanning bolero, tango, bossa nova and folk. The same day, saxophonist and flautist Bernardo Parrilla brings «Puente Flamenco» to Lebrija.
On Thursday, November 12, Puerto Rican saxophonist Miguel Zenón and Venezuelan pianist Luis Perdomo present «El arte del bolero vol. 2» in Cantillana, the album with which they won the Grammy for best Latin jazz album in 2024. That same night, guitarists Peter Bernstein and Steve Cardenas perform in Utrera with a repertoire centred on Thelonious Monk.
On Thursday, November 19, Andrés Coll Odyssey with Moroccan musician Majid Bekkas arrive in Gines, and soul singer Martha High, who was a vocalist for James Brown for more than three decades, performs in Utrera alongside the Julián Maeso Organ Trío.
The last weekend begins on Thursday, November 26 in Lebrija with Ibérica, the project of Chico Pérez and Sergio de Lope with singer Aroa Fernández, and in Osuna with the Ester Quevedo Quintet, who present «Garabato».
Concerts in secondary schools
Alongside the official programme, 12 educational concerts are held in secondary schools across the province, bringing the total to 36 performances including those of the main line-up. Padilla Siblings, Antonia Ferrà, Estefanía Alpresa Jazz Quartet, Comfort Trío and Ivo Blanek take part. The Diputación notes that this extension of the festival aims to bring jazz closer to students and spark the interest of younger audiences.
This year's line-up pays tribute to the Andalusian artist Manolo Cuervo, who died last July and whose work is linked to culture and music. The deputy for Culture and Citizenship, Casimiro Fernández, has stated that the institution is increasing the festival's budget by 25%, to more than 340,000 euros.
