Utrera Health Week 2026 is held from Monday, October 26 to Friday, October 30 with activities spread across the Mercadillo esplanade, Plaza de Gibaxa and the Municipal Library. It is organised by the Council's Health department, with the collaboration of the Norte Príncipe de Asturias and Sur Virgen de Consolación health centres, the Colegio de Farmacéuticos de Sevilla and Protección Civil.

How to start the week

On Monday, October 26, from 10:00 to 11:00, the Mercadillo esplanade hosts a geriatric gymnastics session led by instructor Consolación Moreno Ramírez. It is open to all and no registration is needed. That same day, from 10:00 to 13:00, an information tent on paediatric and adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is set up in Plaza de Gibaxa. Nursing professionals from both health centres and members of Protección Civil will explain how to act in an emergency.

Information stands and mental health

On Tuesday 27, from 10:00 to 13:00, the Municipal Library hosts a circuit of information stands with nursing staff from the Norte and Sur centres and pharmacists from the Colegio de Farmacéuticos de Sevilla. They will talk about respiratory health, cardiovascular risk prevention, healthy eating, physical activity as opposed to unnecessary medication use, and tools for coping with anxiety. On Wednesday 28, at 17:30, the Library hosts a talk and discussion on young people and mental health, with free admission until full capacity is reached. Speakers are Ginés Pastor, director of IES Ruiz Gijón; Miriam Cruces, director of CEIP Serafín and Joaquín Álvarez Quintero; and Rosario Plata, mental health nurse at the Centro de Salud Norte Príncipe de Asturias. The presence of Silvia Maraver Ayala, regional delegate for Health and Consumer Affairs in Sevilla, and Gloria Guillén Rodríguez, regional delegate for Educational Development and Vocational Training in Sevilla, is expected. On that day the prizes of the second edition of the ConectARTE School Painting Competition are awarded, organised on the occasion of World Mental Health Day, which is commemorated on October 10. Pupils from 5th and 6th grade of Primary at the Tierno Galván, Al-Ándalus, Álvarez Quintero, Juan Antonio Velasco and La Fontanilla schools, and from 1st year of Secondary at the Ponce de León, Ruiz Gijón and Virgen de Consolación institutes took part.

Stroke and closing

On Thursday 29, at 18:00, the Library hosts the lecture «Ictus: signos de alarma» (Stroke: warning signs), by neurologist Luis Redondo Verge, on how to identify the symptoms and act quickly. Admission is free until full capacity is reached. On Friday 30, from 10:00 to 11:00, geriatric gymnastics returns to the Mercadillo esplanade with Consolación Moreno Ramírez, also without prior registration.
