The Auditorio Municipal Fely Perejón in Benacazón hosts the performance of «Bodas de sangre» on Thursday, October 29, at 20:00, in a version for adult audiences performed by the Asociación Acción Teatral de Umbrete. The adaptation and direction are by María Martínez de Tejada.
Free admission until the auditorium is full
No ticket or prior registration is needed: entry is free until the venue reaches full capacity. It is advisable to arrive early, as capacity is limited and places cannot be reserved.
The activity is organised by the Concejalía de Cultura of the Ayuntamiento de Benacazón through the Programa 107 of the Diputación de Sevilla, according to the Consistorio.
A classic tragedy of Spanish theatre
«Bodas de sangre» is a tragedy in verse and prose by Federico García Lorca, written in 1931 and premiered on March 8, 1933, at the Teatro Beatriz in Madrid. The play has become one of the most performed texts by the Granada-born author and has had several film versions, including Carlos Saura's in 1981.
The production comes to the auditorium thanks to a theatre group from Umbrete, a town neighbouring Benacazón, bringing a regional stage proposal to local residents.
The role of the Diputación
The Programa 107 of the Diputación de Sevilla is the framework through which this cultural activity in the municipality is funded, as detailed by the Ayuntamiento. The delegate for the area of Culture, María Rosario Fernández Santos, encourages people to enjoy this play performed by actors from the neighbouring town.
