The Universidad de Sevilla (US) is exhibiting from this Wednesday in the EP1 Room of the Centro de Iniciativas Culturales (CICUS) a set of sculptural and pictorial assets of the academic institution from the Iglesia de la Anunciación and the Capilla de los Estudiantes. It is the first time these works have been brought together in the same space, according to the University.

What can be seen

The exhibition is organised in three spaces. The first brings together medium- and large-format painting on canvas from the university chapel, among them ‘La Adoración de los Magos’ (c. 1760-1765), by Diego Bejarano, of the 18th-century Sevillian school. The second focuses on polychrome sculpture in wood and terracotta from both temples. The third is a projection room with explanatory videos and with the packaging of two lamp-bearing angels from the chapel, one of them partially open.

Conservation and visits

The tour, with organised guided visits, includes labels with QR codes that expand on data about execution techniques and conservation processes. The videos cover the dismantling and transfer of the pieces, the conservation treatments and the intervention in the reliquaries of the Anunciación. The University notes that the display of the works in their current state responds to the need to articulate urgent measures for their intervention and recovery in the short term.

To visit it

The exhibition can be visited in the EP1 Room of the CICUS until July 12. There are organised guided visits, without details in the information disseminated of schedules, registration requirements or price.
