IES El Majuelo in Gines has hosted the exhibition “Escritoras andaluzas en torno al 27” since Wednesday, October 28; it consists of 30 panels dedicated to Andalusian women writers of the Silver Age who were left out of the literary canon. The exhibition can be visited at the school until November 13.
What can be seen
Each panel brings together biographical information, texts and visual material on the life and literary careers of these authors, as well as the historical and social context in which they developed their work. Among the writers included are Regla Manjón, Amantina Cobos, Esperanza Cerrato and María Enciso, most of them little known to the general public.
Visits and move to the women's centre
On the first day, one of the curators, Eva Moreno-Lago, explained details about these authors to the school's students and gave a talk to the third-year ESO students in which she encouraged them to research these writers and read their work. The municipal councillor for Equality, María Jesús de los Santos, highlighted the research work of the University of Seville and thanked it for its collaboration with the City Council.
From November 16, the exhibition moves to the Centro Municipal de Información a la Mujer de Gines, at calle Sevilla, número 10.
Who organises it
The exhibition is funded by the Plan Propio de Investigación y Transferencia (PPIT) of the University of Seville and by the Equality department of the Gines City Council, according to the Consistorio.
