The IES Fray Bartolomé de las Casas in Morón de la Frontera is hosting the exhibition «Ojos que sí ven: perspectivas de los adolescentes frente a las narrativas de odio». The exhibition brings together the views, reflections and experiences of young people in the face of hate speech, with the aim of fostering critical thinking, empathy and respect.
What can be seen
The project offers a space for teenagers to express how they perceive this speech, analyse its consequences and develop a critical view of prejudice and situations of discrimination. Youth participation is the central axis of the proposal, which is committed to education, shared reflection and dialogue as tools to improve coexistence.
Touring the secondary schools
The exhibition will remain at the IES Fray Bartolomé de las Casas until December. It will then tour the secondary schools of Morón de la Frontera through the municipal programme Ciudades ante las Drogas.
In addition, teachers will have a teaching proposal to work on understanding hate narratives in the classroom and to promote dialogue among young people, in order to prevent prejudice and build relationships based on respect and coexistence.
Who takes part
The opening was attended by the municipal delegate for Equality and Social Welfare, Nuria Martínez, and the delegate for Education, Lorena López, together with representatives of the school's management team and guidance department. Staff from the Ciudades ante las Drogas programme, members of the Laboratorio de Actividad Humana research group of the Faculty of Psychology of the Universidad de Sevilla and staff from Bosco Global, organisations collaborating in the initiative, were also present.
According to the Ayuntamiento de Morón, with this proposal the Consistorio and the collaborating organisations reinforce their commitment to education in values and to the active participation of teenagers.
