The Regional Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Ramón Fernández-Pacheco, announces the inclusion of this financial tool in next year's Andalusian accounts to respond quickly to the damage from storms and phenomena such as DANA.
The Regional Government of Andalusia will include a contingency fund in the 2027 budget to respond more quickly to the damage caused by storms and adverse weather events such as DANA. This was announced by the Regional Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Ramón Fernández-Pacheco, during an informational meeting held at the Seville Chamber of Commerce.
What the fund allows
According to the regional minister, this financial tool will give the regional administration "greater agility and immediacy" to act while material and agricultural damage in the affected areas is being assessed and quantified. The announcement comes after the recent rainfall recorded in the province of Almería.
Call for water saving
On water matters, Fernández-Pacheco has called for collective responsibility so as not to relax water-saving and efficiency measures despite the rainfall recorded. The regional minister has stated that continuing to promote sustainability in the management of this resource is a priority need for Andalusia's productive and agricultural fabric.
Role of the town councils
The regional minister has also called on local entities to take on the improvement and renewal of their municipal distribution networks to reduce flow losses. With this request, the Regional Ministry says it aligns itself with the sector's recommendations to speed up the modernisation of water infrastructure throughout the region.
The event, organised by Europa Press with the sponsorship of Unicaja, featured the participation of the regional minister, who was received on arrival by the manager of the Seville Chamber of Commerce, Salvador Fernández.
