Utrera looks again to its own cante. From November 13 to 25, the fourth edition of the Ciclo Flamenco is held, with shows, screenings, book presentations, lectures and tributes spread between the Biblioteca Municipal and the Teatro Municipal Enrique de la Cuadra, as announced by the city's Ayuntamiento. The event opens on Friday, November 13, at 19:30, at the Biblioteca Municipal, with the screening of the documentary "Vinculación flamenca: Utrera y Morón" (2025), directed by Jesús Gómez Ulecia. The 40-minute piece reviews the historical and artistic link between the two municipalities through family ties and the old railway, with testimonies and performances by artists such as Tomás de Perrate and Paco de Amparo. The following day, Saturday 14 at 19:30, the same library hosts the presentation of the book "De Carmen Amaya a Rosalía", by researcher and editor Carolina Le Port, which analyzes the evolution of flamenco from a gender perspective. The event will feature representatives from Sony and Universal and music by guitarist Manuel Valencia.

A gala between the old and the new

On Monday, November 16, at 20:00, the Teatro Municipal Enrique de la Cuadra hosts the gala "Entre dos tiempos", about 60 minutes long, which traces the evolution of flamenco from its most traditional forms to current trends. Enrique el Extremeño, Ñoño on guitar, Pitín hijo and José Luis Pérez-Vera take part, together with the Kumpania quartet (Pepe Fernández on piano, Manu Brazo on saxophone, Claudia Gallardo on violin and Ricardo Huete on cello). Journalist and flamencologist Manuel Curao presents and hosts the show. On Thursday 19, at 19:30 at the Biblioteca Municipal, journalist and researcher Ildefonso Vergara gives the lecture "Cien años de flamenco y radio", in collaboration with the Universidad Pablo de Olavide, on the role of the media in spreading flamenco since 1924 and its relationship with Utrera. The talk includes musical illustration by Juan Juanelo on vocals and Fernando María on guitar. On Saturday 21, at 20:30 at the Biblioteca Municipal, a tribute is paid to Pepa de Utrera (1926-2009) on the centenary of her birth. The singer, from the Pinini dynasty, brought flamenco rumba and cuplé por bulerías to the tablaos of Madrid and to international stages. The talk is moderated by journalist and flamenco critic Kiko Valle, with Consolación Jiménez, Mari del Charrúa and Dani de Utrera, accompanied on guitar by Juan Carlos Montoya. The following day, Sunday 22 at 12:30 at the Teatro Enrique de la Cuadra, the Peña Cultural Flamenca Curro de Utrera celebrates the XLII edition of the Festival del Mostachón, dedicated to guitarist Rafael Riqueni, who will receive the peña's commemorative badge. The Sevillian bailaora Lucía La Bronce, winner of the Premio El Desplante of the Festival Internacional del Cante de las Minas, will perform with her group. The cycle closes on Wednesday, November 25 with the school closing event at the Teatro Enrique de la Cuadra, promoted by the delegación de Educación, in which students show their work on flamenco.

Routes through flamenco Utrera

The delegación de Turismo adds to the program the guided route "Utrera por amor al Cante", which tours the city's flamenco sites and the monuments dedicated to its figures. The visits are on Saturdays 7, 14, 21 and 28 November, from 12:00 to 13:30, departing from the Oficina de Turismo. Registration is required in advance by email at oficinaturismo@utrera.org. The delegada de Cultura, Turismo y Patrimonio Histórico, María José García Arroyo, has stated that "Utrera is the cradle of great artists who have left a fundamental mark on this art, and we have the responsibility to preserve that legacy and continue passing it on to new generations".
