Flamenco returns to Alcalá de Guadaíra. On Sunday, November 15, the Auditorio Riberas del Guadaíra hosts the closing Gala of the Provincial Meeting of Peñas, which this year is held on the occasion of International Flamenco Day. On stage will be María Terremoto, Emilio Caracafé, El Petete and Jóvenes de las 3000, as announced by the Ayuntamiento de Alcalá de Guadaíra. The lineup mixes artists with a recognized career with young people who are finding in flamenco a form of expression and an opportunity to develop their talent. The gala closes a meeting that tours 14 flamenco peñas across the province and that ends in Alcalá de Guadaíra, with the collaboration of the Culture and Tourism departments and the backing of the Diputación through Prodetur.

Two dates on the calendar

The program in the town does not stop on Sunday. On Friday, November 13, at 21:00, the Peña Flamenca El Arrabal hosts a performance by Gloria del Rosario. On Sunday the 15th, the day begins at 10:00 with the meeting of the flamenco organizations, in which the representatives of the peñas will take a guided tourist-cultural visit through Alcalá. The gala will start at 13:00, with doors opening at 12:00. The Culture delegate, Christopher Rivas, has stated that «las peñas flamencas son mucho más que lugares donde se organizan recitales» and has defended their role in «mantener vivo el flamenco, transmitirlo de generación en generación, apoyar a los artistas y mantener una afición que forma parte de nuestra cultura».

How to get the invitations

Admission to the gala is free, but an invitation must be collected. They can be picked up from November 5 at the Auditorio Riberas del Guadaíra and at the Casa de la Cultura, with a maximum of two per person. The event listing in the YaSevilla agenda includes the venue, time and access: Día Internacional del Flamenco.
