The La Rinconada Town Council has presented 'El Abrazo de la Navidad 2026', a campaign that will fill the municipality's streets with activity throughout December and that seeks to encourage Christmas shopping in local businesses.
Market and theme park
The Christmas Market returns and will be set up at El Palenque de El Abrazo from December 4 to 8. Participating establishments will have their own showcase within the programme.
On December 4 Christmas will kick off in the municipality with the lighting of the lights, a chocolate drink and a concert, which will continue with the music of a DJ.
From that same date and until January 4, El Abrazo will become a Christmas theme park with a Santa's Grotto, a natural ice rink, rides, parades, shows, themed weekends and food stalls. There will be days aimed at schools and adapted sessions.
Activities in the neighbourhoods
The programme will also go out to the municipality's commercial areas:
—December 10. La Paz: children's workshops.
—December 14. Calle Madrid: chocolate drink.
—December 16. Virgen de Gracia - Mercado de Abastos: chocolate drink.
—December 18. Santa Cruz: children's entertainment.
—December 21. Parque de La Estacada: chocolate drink.
—December 23. Córdoba - Parque de los Pintores: performance by the Escuela de Baile de Antonia de los Santos.
—December 28. San José: chocolate drink.
—December 30. Parque de Estrasburgo: performance by the Escuela de Baile de Alberto El Romero.
Added to these events are the Tardebuena, on December 24 in the Plaza de España, and the Tardevieja, on December 31 in the La Paz neighbourhood, both with music.
How to take part in the market
Businesses interested in the Christmas Market can submit their application from October 15 to November 7. Registration is done through the Electronic Registry, at the Town Council Registry (Plaza de España, 6) or at the Tenencia de Alcaldía (Plaza Juan Ramón Jiménez, s/n). In the application the commercial name of the establishment must be correctly indicated, as it will be used to identify and promote it.
The delegate for Commerce and Fiestas Mayores, Rafael Reyes, has stated that the campaign seeks to keep Christmas shopping in the municipality and for Christmas to be experienced in the streets and commercial areas.
