The Teatro Gutiérrez de Alba in Alcalá de Guadaíra adds two jazz dates this November. They will be on Friday, November 20 and Saturday, November 28, both at 20.30 hours, as part of the 33rd edition of the International Jazz Festival in the Province of Seville, organised by the Diputación. Alcalá is one of the twelve participating cities, as explained by the Culture delegate, Christopher Rivas. The first night is opened by Andrés Coll Odyssey with the Moroccan musician Majid Bekkas as special guest. The Ibizan vibraphonist presents a proposal that mixes the folklore of Ibiza with contemporary jazz and musical traditions from North Africa and Eastern Europe. He is accompanied by Dawid Lubowicz on violin and baritone violin, Ramón López on drums and tabla, and Bekkas with guembri, kalimba and voice. The project incorporates elements of gnawa music, a Moroccan musical tradition. The second concert is by Ester Quevedo Quintet. The Madrid-born pianist and composer presents Garabato, her second album, with compositions originally conceived for trio that on this occasion are performed in quintet format. Alongside Quevedo will be Óscar Latorre on trumpet, Vicent Pérez on trombone, Marc Cuevas on double bass and Roger Gutiérrez on drums. The artist has trained at music centres in Spain and the Netherlands and is part of the Clasijazz Valparaíso Big Band and the CROCUS collective. Tickets cost 3 euros and can be purchased at the Alcalá de Guadaíra ticket sales portal. Rivas has stated that for Alcalá «it is a luxury to receive musical culture and, in particular concerts, of a genre as sensitive and special as jazz», and invited local residents to enjoy the performances.
