The parish of la Magdalena experiences this Sunday, November 8, a day that its brotherhood has been preparing for some time: the canonical coronation of its patron, Nuestra Señora del Amparo, an image from the 16th century attributed to Roque Balduque. The day coincides with the feast of the Patronage of Mary, the second Sunday of November. The seasonal coronation mass will be presided over by the archbishop and will also be the Main Function of Institute. In the afternoon, with the Virgin already crowned, it will leave in procession in an extraordinary manner to the Ayuntamiento, where it will be received by the Municipal Corporation. The coronation has not been approached as an isolated act. As explained by the elder sister, Paquibel Ruiz, the brotherhood has wanted to take advantage of the event "to renew that devotion, strengthen the spiritual life of the parish community and express through social work the meaning of the advocacy of Amparo." The project combines devotion, heritage, social action and brotherhood life. Among the initiatives, the brotherhood has collaborated with Regina Mundi and its work with those most in need, whom, according to Ruiz, they will continue to help "in everything within our reach."

A program with prior events

The preparatory acts have been the usual ones each year, but there have also been extraordinary moments, such as the Rosario de la Aurora to the Cathedral with mass before the Virgen de los Reyes. In addition, the brotherhoods of the parish have organized a training seminar that, this academic year and last, has addressed Marian themes on the occasion of the coronation. In the days before, a gathering is planned with the brotherhoods from all over Spain that have the advocacy of Amparo. The novena was held from October 24 to November 1. The brotherhood summarizes the meaning of the day in the words of its elder sister: "Without a doubt we will experience a day very much of brotherhood and very much of parish around its patron."
