The myth of Don Juan Tenorio can be experienced in Utrera beyond the stage. The Utrera-based company Guate Teatro has presented Tenorio 360º, an experience that combines theatre, theatrical tours, gastronomy and oenology during the month of November.

Two days and four monuments

The immersive performances will be on November 21 and 28, with two shows each day and two monuments per session. On the first day, the Hospital de la Santa Resurrección and the Capilla de San Francisco; on the second, the Colegio Salesiano de Nuestra Señora del Carmen and the Capilla de San Francisco. Each performance can accommodate 60 people, who will have audio guides. Each session will end with a tasting of sweets from the cloistered Carmelite nuns and from the local spirit Flor de Utrera.

A November with Don Juan

The programme starts earlier: on October 31, Guate Teatro will perform the classic at the Teatro Enrique de la Cuadra at 20.30 hours. Throughout the month, various establishments in the city will create tapas and sweets dedicated to the characters of the play. There will also be a themed beer tasting, the Cata en Tres Actos, and a gastrocultural night, the Cena en palacio con Don Juan. As explained by the president of Guate Teatro, María Gómez, the project was born after a quarter of a century performing Don Juan Tenorio every year without interruption. The intention, she says, is for Utrera's heritage to benefit from the company's trajectory and for its theatre to be enriched by the spaces that become living stages. The delegate for Culture, Historical Heritage and Tourism of the Utrera City Council, María José Pía García, has indicated that the city presides this year over Caminos de Pasión and the European Network of Holy Week and Easter Celebrations, and is part of Pueblos Mágicos de España. The delegate of the Government of the Junta de Andalucía in Seville, Ricardo Sánchez, has congratulated the company on its almost 30 years on the stage.
