Dos Hermanas hosts a conference on perinatal grief on October 30
The Grupo de Madres Parque de Estrellas, with the Dos Hermanas City Council, is organizing an open conference on perinatal grief on October 30 at 11:00 in Aula 2 of the Parque Tecnológico de la Ciudad del Conocimiento.
The Grupo de Madres Parque de Estrellas, with the collaboration of the Dos Hermanas City Council, has organized an open conference on perinatal grief for Friday, October 30, at 11:00, in Aula 2 of the Parque Tecnológico de la Ciudad del Conocimiento, on calle Miguel Matute, s/n, in Dos Hermanas.
The event is aimed at families, professionals and any interested resident. The goal, according to the group, is to bring society closer to the reality of losing a baby during pregnancy or shortly after birth and to demand recognition for those babies and their families.
Who organizes it
The meeting will be led by the Grupo Parque de Estrellas, an initiative formed by four mothers from Dos Hermanas who have experienced firsthand the loss of their children at different stages of pregnancy or shortly after birth. They are Ángela Arias de Saavedra, Laura González Sánchez, Luisa Piñero Alarcón and Teresa Ramos Mateos, who decided to combine their experiences to give visibility to this reality and offer a space for accompaniment and support.
Memory boxes and a park in memory of the babies
During the conference, the importance of memory boxes as a tool for accompanying grief will be addressed, elements that help families preserve memories of their babies and give a place to their loss. There will also be talk of the value of having a memorial space such as the future Parque de Estrellas de Dos Hermanas, which the group promotes as a place of remembrance, tribute and recognition for these families.
The meeting also seeks to raise awareness about the need to accompany respectfully those going through perinatal grief, a process that, they point out, needs to be recognized and accompanied.
Free mutual support
Currently the Grupo Parque de Estrellas runs online Mutual Help Groups (GAM), completely free, in which families from different parts of the world participate. They are meeting spaces between people who have lived through similar experiences, with peer support.
The Dos Hermanas City Council highlights the importance of supporting citizen initiatives that make visible realities that need greater social recognition and promote spaces for awareness, listening and accompaniment for families.
How to participate
The conference is open to families, professionals and the public and is held on Friday, October 30 at 11:00 in Aula 2 of the Parque Tecnológico de la Ciudad del Conocimiento (calle Miguel Matute, s/n).
