Montellano celebrates its 5th Matanza and Traditional Products Fair this weekend. It will be on Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8, with free tastings, demonstrations of sausage making and cultural activities. The event allows visitors to learn first-hand how products such as chorizo, morcilla and chicharrones are made, as well as to try typical dishes of the local gastronomy. The programme starts on Saturday, November 7 at 12:00 with the opening of the fair. Afterwards there will be a demonstration of the cutting and preparation of the pig, one of the central activities of the event. During the day there will be tastings, a flamenco show and a display of sweets and pastries from the town's pastry shops. On Sunday the gastronomic and cultural activities will continue. Highlights include a ham-cutting display and a competition of dressed olives with prize-giving and free tastings. The day will close with a musical performance. The mayor of Montellano, Rocío Figueroa, explained that the fair aims to showcase the municipality's gastronomy, support local businesses and keep traditions alive. Figueroa invited «all the people who want to come to Montellano to enjoy two days of togetherness, good food and tradition». The provincial deputy for Supramunicipal Public Services, Gonzalo Domínguez, noted that it is «a municipal initiative that is already more than consolidated in its fifth edition» and a factor in boosting the economy of Montellano and the region. The poster and the programme have been presented at the headquarters of the Diputación de Sevilla.
